Donetta comes to Lighthouse Christian Counseling with a purpose and passion for helping people restore hope in their lives.

She works with clients that have addictive and co-dependency behaviors, problems with anger management, victims of domestic violence and individuals experiencing crisis. She also works with children experiencing behavioral problems including ADHD. Donnetta’s approach is empowerment focused using the client’s strengths as well as various problem-solving techniques.

As a Christian counselor Donetta’s philosophy of counseling is based on the scripture in Jeremiah that encourages us to know that “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee…I sanctified thee…” This tells us that we were created with a specific purpose.

Donnetta takes this scripture and believes that children are like a beautiful vase when born. However, because of life circumstances and experiences they become broken, wounded and cracked adults. It is her hope that as a counselor and with God’s guidance she will be able to help restore her clients back to their original beauty and live life as a whole, complete person. Furthermore it is her hope that as God restores her client, that they in turn will honor and reverence God with all their life.

Donnetta meets people that are in their spiritual journey and is primarily serving to assist her clients to resolve the issues that bring them to counseling. It is important to her that she gains her client’s trust through a therapeutic relationship.

Donetta is a professional counselor and will provide scriptural sound counseling in a safe, objective and respectful manner.

Donetta obtained her Master’s Degree in Social Work from University of Maryland School of Social Work. She is a current member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and receives ongoing training through this membership. Donetta offers evening and Saturday appointments in the Crofton Office.
